For the past 15 years or so I have had my own self-created cookbook where I’ve kept every recipe that was important to me. Since I wanted something where I could store recipes alphabetically, I had decided to use a ring-bound address book where I could continually add new recipes easily.

This worked fine — for 15 years — until I ran out of room. I have no more blank pages and even if I did, I wouldn’t have room for them in the book. I tried to find the exact same Susan Branch address book but it is no longer in print. Then I tried to find another 6-ring address book that would fit these size pages but also had no luck.  So then I found a leather-bound, 3-ring agenda book that would do just as well.

They were on sale for 50% off so I bought two in different colors. I’ll use one for collecting cooking recipes and the other for baking recipes.

Having a record of my own recipes that I have created or changed from someone elses has been important to me. I constantly add notes or change things if I discover how to make something better than before.

It’s going to be a pain to move these recipes to my new books (the pages wont fit in the rings) but I’m looking forward to going through all of them and weeding out the ones I don’t use.
